Just an idea, but one with a greater potential, when properly thought through and properly applied, from the one we are struggling with today.

- It’s the same all over the world, hard to manipulate, grounded in the real-physical world, transparent, of course - no trading with E-units!, transparently set “value” of labor, disconnected from the luck factor of geographical location with abundance/lack of natural resources (or accumulation of them through history), stimulates consumption of local food and energy (a vegetable grown 5000 kilometres away can never be cheaper in terms of energy from a locally grown vegetable) etc…
- A loaf of bread requires Y units of energy for its production, giving you the price E/unit of bread – (differs depending on the efficiency of production – here’s where stimulus for competition and research and progress comes into play).
- You work an 8 hour-a-day job burning X amount of energy. Corrected by a multiplying Correction Factor for “value” or importance of the work, broader social impact, danger of work etc… – you get a wage or pay in units of energy.
How about this:
Instead of money, how about a “medium of exchange” like a (universal) physical unit of energy (debatable which one is appropriate, and the methodology of its calculation)?
Everything produced requires energy, measured in whatever units are appropriate.
